EDF Research and Development Showroom:
Date: Thursday 19 June
Time: 10.00 - 12.00
You will be able to discover the history of the site as well as the Showroom, a space of over 300m² dedicated to EDF's R&D expertise and innovations, serving the Group's activities. You will also have the opportunity to visit the test hall, which houses a comprehensive range of testing facilities dedicated to industrial research (in the fields of electrotechnics and structural mechanics).
The SOLEIL Synchrotron:
Date: Thursday 19 June
Time: 14.00 - 15.00
Located near Paris, France, is a cutting-edge research facility dedicated to advancing science using synchrotron radiation. This powerful source of light, produced by electrons traveling at near-light speeds in a circular accelerator, enables researchers to explore the properties of materials, biological samples, and more, down to the atomic scale. SOLEIL's state-of-the-art beamlines serve diverse fields such as physics, chemistry, biology,
environmental science, and cultural heritage. Visits begin and end at the Welcome Building. Each tour starts with a presentation covering the history, mechanics, and applications of the SOLEIL Synchrotron. Participants will then be guided in the synchrotron's many infrastructures, including the synchrotron building, the control room,
the experimental hall and beamlines. Visits are prohibited for people with electronic equipment that have an impact on their health (pacemaker, insulin pump, neurostimulator for epileptic seizures, etc.), due to the presence of powerful magnets. Note that cochlear implants are authorized, even if the magnetic fields can cause crackling sounds without consequence.
